Fashion sales are easy to shrug off. Most of us have already learned the drill: rack after rack of odd sizes, off-season fabrics, and the faint whiff of someone else’s trend hangover. But occasionally a discount drop brings real value—actual wearable pieces, priced like someone made a mistake, in a good way. New Look’s plus size clothing sale is one of those rare cases where the clearance racks and the algorithm seem to have had a productive meeting. Prices are low, yes. But more importantly, some of the clothes are actually good.
At £19, down from nearly £33, this is one of those versatile midis that toes the line between weekday and weekend without trying too hard. The fabric is synthetic (polyester blend), which matters less for this sort of easy-wash, fast-dry casual wear. It’s been discounted before and likely will be again, but inventory doesn’t seem to stick around for long in this size range. One to grab if you’re looking for something that works under a jacket but doesn’t vanish when you sit down.
This one’s more occasion than everyday, made with an unapologetically sparkly metallic thread that can’t decide if it’s retro glam or Christmas jumper ironic. Either way, the drape is surprising for a brand this price-conscious. £15 instead of £30 is fair, especially if you end up only wearing it twice—though sizing can drift at the shoulders. Dry-cleaning isn’t required, but your laundry bag might wish it were.
Milkmaid styles haven’t exactly vanished, but their dominance has mercifully softened. This version from Apricot lands somewhere in the noncommittal middle—less cosplay, more wearable. The smocked back helps with fit, the sleeves don’t strangle, and the fabric is light enough for layering. It’s down to £25 from £32. Not dramatic, but you can get an extra 25% off by signing up for New Look’s emails, assuming you’re ready for regular inbox pings about bandeau tops and co-ord sets.
QUIZ calls these “tailored,” which is a little generous. What you get is a straight-leg silhouette with a lightly structured waistband and limited forgiveness—though the colour (more muted than candy) makes them less shouty than they sound. At £15, it's about as low as they go, considering previous sales have hovered around £17. Useful for those rare non-denim days, or if you're assembling a capsule wardrobe with different shades of pink behaving themselves in the same drawer.
Tie dye has been slowly retreating to wherever it goes during off years, but this piece leans more chevron than full-blown swirl. It looks better in motion than in photos, and the waist manages to hint without clinging. Originally £45, now £20. Could go even lower in the next site-wide event, but at this price, chances are few sizes will still be in stock. Returns are free, which makes low-risk gambles like this slightly more tenable.
This is the budget equivalent of the dress you wear into September and forget to stop wearing. The colour is more faded denim than vivid blue, but that makes it easier to lean casual. Cut isn't bodycon, but neither is it oversized—it threads the needle decently. It was £45, now £18. It’s not lined, so underslip loyalists may groan, but on hot days, fewer layers aren’t the worst thing. Also benefits from a belt if you’re feeling motivated.
As holiday-party tops go, this one avoids the usual crimes. No itchy lining, no blackout-level opacity. Just a silver-foil shimmer on a surprisingly light knit, now £15 from £37. The sleeves have a slight batwing effect, but nothing that interferes with coat-wearing or keyboard-using. Feels like something you’d keep in the wardrobe next to your "decent enough" heels, brought out for things like family dinners where the photos matter.
Originally £30, now £9, which tells you two things: New Look likely overstocked these, and people are still not entirely sure about white trousers—even the low-stakes summer versions. But if you're someone who can keep white clothing clean for more than 17 minutes, they’re worth a punt. The fabric is lightweight without being see-through (mostly), and the fit is forgiving, thanks to the drawstring. Not built for winter, but you already knew that.
Smock dresses often walk dangerously close to “sack with buttons” territory. This one avoids it by keeping the volume slightly in check and adding a bow detail at the back. It’s crinkled on purpose, not just from shipping, so it's the rare dress you can throw in a bag and forget about ironing. Down to £7 from £22. Sizes are going fast—which usually means people already tried them and didn't hate it.
New Look’s 25% email signup offer, not unlike most welcome codes, excludes a lot (third-party brands, sale items, your growing sense of buyer’s remorse). But it does apply to a surprising number of regular-priced items—even in the plus size range. Sign up once, use it quickly, then unsubscribe before your inbox becomes a rolling scroll of discount countdowns. Or just stay. You’ll probably end up back on the site either way.
